Device templates

A template is the recording preset for a device: which channels it has, what they are called, the sample rate, and per-channel hardware settings. Board ships templates for every BrainAccess device (HALO, MINI, MIDI, MAXI) and for the synthetic generators; you can adjust them or create your own.

Where to edit: on the Connect screen, click the gear icon on a device card to open its template editor. Templates are stored as files you can back up or copy between machines — the Templates card on the Folders screen opens their folder.

BrainAccess device templates

The editor shows the device-wide settings and a per-channel table.

Device-wide:

Setting	Meaning
Reference	The reference electrode (default Fpz). All channels are measured against it.
Sample Rate (Hz)	Samples per second. If the device supports only one rate it is shown as a fixed label; otherwise pick from the supported rates.

Per-channel table:

Column	Meaning
Pin	The physical connector pin on the device.
Channel	The channel name — standard 10–20 electrode names (Fp1, F3, Cz, O2, …). The picker has a “Type to filter…” box.
Active	Whether this channel is streamed and recorded. Switch unused channels off.
Bias	Whether this channel participates in the device’s noise-cancelling bias circuit.
Gain	The amplifier gain for this channel.

Name your channels to match where the electrodes actually sit — the viewer uses the names for channel ordering and display.

Synthetic templates

Templates for the Synthetic Data generators have their own per-channel table: Channel, Active, Function (the waveform), Freq (Hz), Amplitude, and Phase. Adjust these to shape the test signal each channel produces.

Tips

• Changes apply the next time you connect the device.

• To share a setup, copy the template file from Folders → Templates to the same folder on another machine.

• If you mainly want to check electrode contact, you don’t need to edit templates — use Impedance mode on the Connect screen instead (see Connect).
