Installation#

This app is BrainAccess Mobile, the Android app for BrainAccess EEG headsets (HALO, MINI, MIDI, MAXI and EXG8). This page covers what you need to run it, the permissions it asks for and why, and the two cards the device list shows when it cannot scan yet. The app name, its version, a one-line description and Open-source licences are shown any time under ⋮ → About.

Permissions#

The app asks only for what it needs, at the moment it needs it. The headset SDK never asks on its own — every prompt comes from the app.

Nearby devices (Bluetooth scan + connect)

Scanning and connecting are impossible

11 and older

Location (precise) and location services switched on

Android requires it to return Bluetooth scan results

No headsets are found; the app tells you location services are off

Puts the ongoing session notification with Marker and Stop in the shade

Streaming and recording still work; you just lose the shade controls

If you already denied a permission#

If you denied Nearby devices earlier, Android stops asking. The device list then shows a card titled Nearby devices permission with an Open settings button that takes you straight to the app’s permission page.

Bluetooth off#

If Bluetooth is off, the device list shows Bluetooth is off with an Enable button, and the Scan button is greyed out until Bluetooth is on.
